Round Table Discussion On Women’s Representation In The Gaming Ecosystem In Pakistan, Led By USAID

Through its multiple initiatives, M-Labs has been committed to empowering women in the gaming ecosystem. To date, we have trained more than 217 women, both students, and teachers, to provide technical as well as entrepreneurial skills that can help them succeed and drive their own ventures going forward.

To explore the barriers women face in the ecosystem, in their varying roles as teachers, students and professionals, M-Labs hosted a roundtable discussion, in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). We were joined by around twenty women including students, teachers, game developers, marketers, and artists.

The discussion, led by Mr. Stephen Berlinguette, Deputy Director Office of Economic Growth at USAID, focused on the countless issues that women face in their varying capacities within the industry. From social stigmas associated with women in gaming to lack of access to updated knowledge and information, the conversation explored multiple facets of women’s continued underrepresentation in the sector. The discussion also included dialogue on addressing these challenges and the role M-Labs and USAID can play to work toward women’s empowerment through the gaming sector.
